SEVEN new jobs have been created as a result of an investment of almost £1million in a Leominster supermarket.

The Co-operative store, on Dishley Street, will re-launch on Friday February 26 following six weeks of work, with vacancies remaining for customer team members.

The store is staying open throughout the re-fit, with works taking place mainly out-of-hours to minimise inconvenience for customers.

New refrigeration will enhance the stores's range of chilled meat, dairy, beers and wines.

It will also have an improved in-store bakery and a Costa coffee dispenser as well as new pet care products, and a 'Free From' range of gluten and wheat free products.

The store will also launch its Community Pioneer role where members of the food store team, Angela Phillips and Helen Styles, will work to foster involvement in community activities, from local fundraising initiatives to helping to understand and develop solutions to meet community needs.

Mark Newton, manager of the Co-op’s Leominster store, said: "The Co-op is investing to transform its stores and the shopping experience for customers and we are thrilled to have had the opportunity to start the year with such a significant investment in Leominster.

"It is an exciting time for the whole team. The store will look fantastic and, as a community retailer and a co-operative, it will play its part in local life too – we look forward to welcoming customers old and new into our new-look store."

The launch day will include offers, promotions and sampling, along with music from the Salvation Army Band.

There will be offers and promotions in and around the store to mark its re-launch. Students who hold a NUS extra card also receive a 10% discount off their groceries in store.
