A PUB landlady was caught drink driving by police as she was giving a regular a lift home.

Karen Miller, landlady at the Nags Head Inn at Peterchurch, pleaded guilty to drink driving.

Hereford Magistrates' Court heard that the 53-year-old was stopped by an unmarked police car in Closure Place in Peterchurch at around 9.30pm on April 20.

She had 52mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, the limit is 35mg.

Emma Prosser, defending, said Miller had no previous convictions and is a respected member of the community.

The court heard she has run the pub for the last 11 years and for the last four as a sole trader.

Miss Prosser said Miller works hard to keep the pub going for the community and was giving a regular a lift home, which was just half a mile away, when she was stopped by the police.

The court heard Miller always gives the regular a lift home but was not expecting to see him that day and had drunk two glasses of wine at lunch time and one drink in the early evening.

Magistrates disqualified Miller from driving for 12 months with the option to take a course to reduce it by 3 months. She was fined £250 and ordered to pay £135 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
