THE Hereford Times is looking to pump cash into good causes in the county.
We want local groups and organisations to benefit from the Gannett Foundation – the charitable arm of Gannett Co Inc, the parent company of Newsquest Media Group and owner of the Hereford Times.
Applications can come from practical and creative projects that bring lasting benefits to the communities and neighbourhoods served by this newspaper and its online audience.
That includes schemes for neighbourhood improvement and local problem-solving, economic development, youth development, education and cultural enrichment, care of the elderly or infirm, help for the disadvantaged or disabled, and environmental conservation.
While preference will be given to ideas which create a durable legacy for the community, we will consider single events or projects of limited duration that otherwise meet our criteria.
It should be noted that applicants must be registered charities and cannot have received a grant from us within the last two years We are unable to fund salaries, professional fees or day-to-day running or maintenance costs or political or religious objectives.
The Hereford Times has previously awarded funds to help St Michael’s Hospice fit out a cluster of rooms at its new 20-bed inpatient unit in Bartestree while last year more than £6,000 was given to the Hereford charity Aspire.
Applications must be submitted on the approved application form which includes a list of criteria.
It can be downloaded from the Hereford Times website or requested by emailing htgannettfoundation@herefordtimes.com Applications must be sent electronically before 5pm on October 14 to Hereford Times editor Peter John at peter.john@herefordtimes.com
