MORE than 1,000 properties in Leominster were affected by a short power cut yesterday after a fault with equipment at an electricity substation.
Fire crews were called out to the station on Portna Way at around 12.10pm after smoke was seen coming from the substation.
Fortunately, there was no fire and the smoke was caused by a fault in a piece of equipment.
A spokesman for Western Power Distribution said 1,100 properties in the area were affected by a power cut just before noon but power was restored by 1.30pm.
The spokesman added that necessary repairs to the equipment were being carried out today.
