FRIENDS of a young girl who was seriously injured in the same crash which claimed her mother's life have made a donation to the hospital where she has been recovering.

Jasmine Bamber was airlifted to Birmingham Children's Hospital following a crash on the A49 near Leominster in November last year.

Her sister was also injured and, tragically, her mother, 38-year-old Gillian Bamber, died at the scene.

The 1st Burghill Brownies, which Jasmine belongs to, has donated some of the funds raised during a bag packing exercise at the Co-operative store in Bobblestock to Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Fiona Bailey, Brown Owl, said: "Jasmine was fighting for her life and was airlifted to Birmingham Children's Hospital where she underwent surgery and has spent the last few months in a critical condition on ward 10.

"So we decided we would like to donate something to ward 10. The nursing sister said they would love an iPad so that is what we gave them, and some cash for any smaller items they may need.

"As Brown Owl I am very proud of my girls and their hard work. Thanks also to the amazing generosity of the customers at Bobblestock Co-Op, and not least to our fantastic brownie-Jasmine, who has now transferred to a centre in Surrey for rehabilitation and seems to be making great progress.

"We are all so happy to hear this news, what a fighter she is."
