A DIY shop celebrated its fourth birthday with a visit from the town's mayor.

Mayor of Ross-on-Wye, Nigel Gibbs, and mayoress, Gill Gibbs, attended the fourth birthday of the Baileys DIY store on the outskirts of Ross-on-Wye.

The mayor commended the Bailey family for choosing to locate their store at Ross and for providing a substantial number of job opportunities.

The family business was started 45 years ago in Abergavenny by Norman Bailey as a car repair garage. It expanded quickly to sell fuel and added a convenience store. Five years ago, the family bought the old Rockfield DIY store in the town, just behind their BP garage, renaming it Baileys DIY and shortly afterwards opened their second DIY store in the old Focus building at Ross.

The Bailey family’s latest venture is Baileys at Home, a home, garden and gift store in Frogmore Street, Abergavenny.

Still family-owned and run, the business provides employment for more than 80 people.
