The town council has released more details about how it will celebrate the coronation of King Charles.

A community celebration is being held on Monday, May 8 in the High Street.

“Residents will be encouraged to come together for a street party,” said a spokesperson for Ledbury Town Council.

“There will be live music, games and plenty of activities to choose from, as well as a delightful selection of food from local cafes and food vans.

“There will be vendors selling drinks in the street, as we would like to encourage everyone to use Ledbury’s wonderful eateries and public houses.

“As well as games there will be plenty of opportunities to win prizes, including the best dressed crown competition, which will be judged by the Mayor of Ledbury.

“Don’t worry if you haven’t got a crown, there will be an arts and crafts table on the day, so everyone can decorate a crown and be a King or Queen for the day.”

Dogs will be welcomed at the event and can even be entered into a dog show on the day.

Categories will include best dressed, waggiest tail and best trick.

Details, including how you can enter, will be uploaded to the town council website soon.

There will be a stage area in the High Street with a local band and community groups filling the town with music, including the Community Choir and Brass Band.

Set times will be announced closer to the event.

Local groups and residents have been invited to get involved with a community project to decorate the town.

This includes creating coronation-themed bunting to hang around the Market House, Almshouses and along Church Lane.

“To recognise His Majesty’s passion for sustainability and the environment, the council have encouraged members to create bunting by re-using old clothing, fabric scraps and charity shop bargains,” the spokesperson said.

“The council would like to thank the businesses who have offered to sponsor this event, including JB Gaynan & Son Jewellers, Inside & Out, ABE and Grant & Co.

“There are still sponsorship opportunities available, and if you would like further details please contact the town clerk.”
