Gracie Abrams: The Good Riddance Tour by Eliza Davis

This autumn, 24-year-old, American Singer-songwriter ,Gracie Abrams took her 2023 critically acclaimed album: good riddance to the European stage. With a highly dedicated fan base, all shows managed to sell out. 2023 has been a very successful year for Abrams. Along with the release of her debut album she also performed as an opener on Taylor Swift's record-breaking eras tour. I was lucky enough to see her incredible headline show this October at the O2 Academy in Bristol.

If one thing is noted about Abrams’ performance it would be her phenomenal stage presence. Somehow, in a crowd of over a thousand people, Abrams was able to make the show feel entirely heartfelt and personal. Her emotion was breath-taking as she passionately performed such meaningful, earnest lyrics leaving the crowd transfixed in her act.

The connection her predominately teenage fanbase has formed with her music is evident. Even influencing their outfits as fans mirrored Abrams’ signature style: a black hair bow. A sea of these hair bows were mesmerised by the stage as Abrams gracefully flourished around. Fans expressed excitement when asked about the bows they said are a “symbol of Gracie.”

Enthusiasm echoed through the venue as the crowd sang along to each lyric with incredible volume. It was easy to become completely immersed in the show. The ambient lighting set an intimate tone to the performance making it incredibly moving. Proven by the impressive support and success of the show it's definite that the Southwest will welcome back Gracie Abrams to perform again.
