Big Apple Blossomtime takes place on Sunday Monday 5-6t May from 11am to 5 pm

For more than 30 years, The Big Apple has been delighting visitors with its springtime celebration of orchards, apples, cider and perry. Their Blossomtime event takes place at three venues over the Sunday and Monday of the Early May bank holiday weekend in Putley and Aylton, just a short ride from Ledbury, near the Trumpet crossroads.

The Big Apple is a Community Benefit Society, whose many volunteers invite you to come and enjoy a great value day out in gorgeous countryside. Nestling below Herefordshire’s Marcle Ridge, the local orchards are famous for both cider and dessert apples and also perry pears.

The event is one event which takes place over three venues.

Visitors should first head for Putley Parish Hall (HR8 2QN)

This is the Parking, Information & Refreshment Hub, where you can buy day tickets, valid at all three venues until 5 pm (£5 adults, under 16s free) pick up information leaflets and start walks around the orchards, with or without a guide.

Blossomtime lunches (11am - 2pm) and teas (2 - 5pm) will be served here on both days. On Sunday, lunches will be served by Aylton Church, followed by teas prepared by Munsley WI. Ledbury Young Farmers will rustle up the Monday lunches before Putley WI brew up their tasty afternoon teas.

Court Farm Barn, Aylton - for arts, crafts, demonstrations, workshops and talks.

Cheryl and Hannah, collectively known as Laughing Betsy, are inviting visitors to create a collaborative artwork, and encouraging everyone to think about the use of different materials and their sustainability. Join them in making flowers to add to a Blossomtime installation, using reused and recycled textiles and embellishments.

Dragon Orchard - cider and perry tastings, cider/perry makers’ stalls, and live music. Visitors can also wander amongst the orchards, soaking up the sounds and scents of nature. “I think I’ve died and gone to Heaven” said one of last year’s visitors!

You can easily walk between the three venues, or you can hitch a ride on the Big Apple tractor with its seated passenger trailer, which will be running a regular shuttle service on both days.

At 7p.m. on Sunday, Putley Parish Hall will also host a bring your own picnic evening, with even more music and entertainment. Please note that a separate ticket is required for this event @ £5 per adult. These can be purchased at the hall during the day, or from 6.30 pm on Sunday evening.

Everyone at the Big Apple looks forward to welcoming you and your family, to enjoy a fabulous bank holiday weekend amongst wonderful local orchards.
