A HEREFORDSHIRE man has been ordered to pay costs after failing to turn up at probation appointments when he was handed a community order.

Konrad Sarna admitted one count of failing to comply with the requirements of a community order when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in April.

The court heard from probation officers that Sarna was supposed to attend appointments on August 9 and September 10 last year, but failed to turn up.

But the court heard the 37-year-old failed to attend the appointments and gave no reasonable excuse for his absence. He did not give the required evidence to justify missing the appointment.

Magistrates ordered Sarna to pay £60 in costs and said he must attend an additional 30 hours of appointments as “punishment for the breach”.

Sarna last appeared in court last July after causing a crash in Hereford when he was above the drink-drive limit.
