New yellow lines

12:10pm Wednesday 27th August 2008

MR Nesbit is wrong to blame MHDC for new yellow lines at the British Camp end of Jubilee Drive. They are the responsibility of the Highway Authority, in this case Herefordshire (County) Council. They are there to avoid the congestion caused by people parking there - whether or not they are avoiding the parking charges of the two car parks in the vicinity. West Mercia Police will usually respond to genuine complaints of non-observance of yellow lines.

Praise for West Fest

9:24am Wednesday 27th August 2008

AFTER many weeks of reading the moaning, wingeing and whining comments emanating from your letter page, I feel I should break with your reader’s tradition and write something complimentary about Malvern and the people therein.

How to get the roads repaired

9:11am Wednesday 27th August 2008

HOW pleasing it is to see that the long suffering residents of Madresfield Road by the Gas Tavern Inn are at last having their road resurfaced, it is long overdue and I have negotiated those pot holes, sorry small caves for some years.

Rats and rubbish

3:00pm Tuesday 26th August 2008

OVER ten years ago MHDC tried to introduce wheelie bins to improve collections and it was found to be time wasting for the dustmen using the grabber dustbin lorry to collect the bins and empty them.

Prescription charges

3:05pm Tuesday 26th August 2008

I AM writing to support Macmillan Cancer Support’s campaign for free prescriptions in England. No-one should be in a position where they can’t afford to pay for their prescriptions, yet for one in ten cancer patients aged 55 and under who have to pay for their prescriptions, this is exactly what happens.

Traffic problems

2:13pm Tuesday 26th August 2008

FOR anyone who was held up in Malvern Link with the traffic lights after 3.30pm Bank Holiday Monday, they were waiting unnecessary as the contractors responsible for unblocking the sewers had completed their job at 3pm and left site at 3.30pm on the dot.

Festival blame must be on promoter - councillor

2:40pm Friday 22nd August 2008

I WRITE to comment upon the debacle that was the proposed Rock‘n'Roots festival in Much Marcle and the blatant attempts by the organiser – Mr Stephens - to blame everybody for the cancellation other than himself.

Fine the council when it drops litter

9:34am Wednesday 20th August 2008

I READ with interest the "new powers' that the council has to "crack down" on littering, one of which being the power to issue a fixed-penalty notice.

Festival aroused local opposition

4:48pm Tuesday 19th August 2008

I LINK the Ledbury Reporter headline article in last week’s issue on the cancellation of the Much Marcle Bank Holiday gig to Kate Chester-Lamb’s letter in the same issue who wrote of her disturbance by The Big Chill four miles away on the other side of the Malvern Hills.

Try living in Old Wyche Road!

3:51pm Tuesday 19th August 2008

I've taken a lot of interest in the recent discussion regarding Orford Way. I really see no justification in the residents' gripes. They should try living in Old Wyche Road!
