A PARKING suggestion for Ledbury made three-and-a-half years ago has finally found the light of day - long after being forgotten by the town councillor who made it.

Herefordshire Council contractors Amey emailed ward councillors and the town council about reviewing the existing parking arrangements around the Southend.

Senior technician for traffic, Jill Tookey-Williams, said there had originally been a suggestion to install “waiting restrictions and/or residents parking” along the road.

Town councillors were baffled as to where this idea came from until it was discovered it dated back to March 2007 and had been made by then town councillor, and now ward councillor, Peter Watts.

Coun Watts said he no longer supported any such restrictions along the Southend as they would only “drive people out of the town”. He added he intended to tell town councillors not to support the idea when it comes before them tonight (Thursday).
