THE Freedom of Information Act is to be used by Ledbury Town Council to find out how much social housing in Ledbury is being allocated to so-called “problem tenants”, from outside the local area.
Ledbury’s deputy mayor, Coun Tony Bradford, has discovered that such controversial tenant transfers can take place under a national system called the Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements, or MAPPA.
Coun Bradford has long advocated the position that social housing such, first and foremost, be for local people in need of it.
He said it was “unacceptable” that MAPPA transfers to Ledbury should take place “in view of the need of social housing for local families”.
Coun Chris Ridler said there are a number of questions to be asked under the Freedom of Information Act.
