PEOPLE power could help shape Ledbury’s future, now a steering group has been set up to help create a new Town Plan.

Steering group chairman, Liz Harvey, a Herefordshire councillor for Ledbury, is calling for everyone, young or old, to consider getting involved.

She said: “This is a really exciting project. We aim to get as wide a cross-section as we can. It would be great if some teenagers, young singles and people with young families could be involved from the outset.”

The existing Town Plan, finalised in 2007, is now considered out of date and the new plan will focus more on neighbourhood and wider planning issues.

The steering group will meet monthly, and the project has the backing of both the town council and Herefordshire Council.

The Steering Group, comprising of volunteers who live in Ledbury, will plan, design and carry out consultation with residents, local groups, associations and societies and official institutions.

The aim is find out what people like about the town, what they want to see improved, and how the town should develop in the coming years.

The next Steering Group meeting will take place on Tuesday March 27, at 7 pm in The Burgage Hall.

Future meetings, wherever possible, will also take place at the same time on the last Tuesday of the month, although venues may vary.

Anyone wishing to get involved in the Steering Group should contact Steering Group Secretary: Andrew Warmington through his email on a.warmington@btinternet.com, or contact the team through the Town Council Offices, on 01531 632306.
