TALENTED dancers from Ledbury’s John Masefield High School have won the chance to perform at a major dance festival in Hereford later this year.
The team beat contenders from 15 other county schools to win their slot at the GLOW festival on Saturday, June 30, in the city’s Castle Green. Teacher Amy Goodhall said: “The girls were asked to choreograph and film an original piece of dance based on one of the Olympic and Paralympic values. They chose ‘determination’ as their value and their creative response won the judges’ attention.”
She added: “I am very excited and pleased by this fantastic achievement.”
By winning the ReFRESH dance competition, led by 2Faced Dance Company, the team has also won the chance for a 2Faced artist to work with the school prior to the performance.
They will also benefit from six free dance workshops and free tickets to the June event for performers and chaperones.
On Monday, competition judges including Tony Larkin, manager of the England blind football team, visited the school to deliver the good news.
