A VILLAGE pub will reopen its doors for the first time in eight months on Monday at 6pm.

The Red Lion in Stiffords Bridge, near Malvern, will open under the new management of Andy Lannie and his wife, Kim, after it was sold in April.

Mr and Mrs Lannie moved into the pub about three weeks ago and he said they had a “tremendous” amount of work to do.

Mr Lannie said work had been progressing well until last week’s flooding, when the pub found itself under nine inches to a foot of water, and work had to start from scratch.

He said: “We’re back on track now. The pub will feel familiar but we’re also hoping locals will see the changes.”

Mr Lannie, who previously ran the Chase Inn in Colwall, said there would also be a new menu and they would replace the Sunday carvery with traditional roasts.

Really glad to see the Rd Lion is opening again, but I have to say, the amazing carvery was the best thing about the pub.
Good luck to the new team, it's a wonderful pub and I bet will be busy straight away.
