AS a security officer at Morrisons, Malvern, over the last several years I have always looked forward to seeing Stan Berrows, whom I would call a friend.
I considered it to be a great honour to spend some time talking to Stan about his time in the war and the good he and his fellow comrades did.
But this year this did not happen because Stan has been unwell.
It breaks my heart that nobody was able to stand in for Stan during this important time of the year and boost the poppy fund (the sum collected by Stan was always considerable).
I would like to thank the Royal Navy, who did come on the Saturday to do their bit as always.
I'm sure all will wish Stan the best for all the hard work he has put in over the years.
