A FEW of us leafleted the Malvern Christmas Festival on Saturday (November 29) suggesting that people might extend the Christmas goodwill to other animals.
One woman gave me the leaflet back saying "I'm a people person".
I find this attitude sad on several counts.
1. People are animals. We are not separate.
2. Compassion is not a finite commodity. It is not something we might run out of.
3. Our Western meat-based diet is a major contributor to Third World starvation. A vast amount of their land is still being used to grow food for our farm animals rather than for themselves.
4. The contribution of animal farming to climate change, which is dangerous for humans and other animals alike, was recently put at 51 per cent.
There are many other reasons but these will do to be going on with.
