SIR, On Tuesday November 18 the Worcester Evening News rightly reported that the standard of General Practice in Worcestershire is high. The article went on to say that, according to the Health Watchdog CQC, the only Practice in Malvern not to receive the highest rating was Whiteacres Medical Centre which had lost points for poor patient access to appointments.
The MORI survey from which this data came found that 97.8% of our patients could make an appointment, one of the best results in the county. The CQC "Intelligent Monitoring" system somehow misinterpreted that result and claimed that 0% of our patients can book an appointment.
CQC have apologised for their error and removed this faulty indicator from their monitoring system.
Perhaps the moral of this tale is to treat all league tables with a healthy dose of scepticism.
