STALWART Belle Vale councillor Bob James is standing down at the next election due to failing health.
The 68-year-old Conservative has represented the ward for 15 years and has been the group’s housing spokesman for the last three years.
Cllr James said he had made the decision reluctantly after advice from his doctor as his health was deteriorating.
He said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a councillor representing the people of Halesowen.
“It is a wonderful ward to represent and I am very grateful to the people of Belle Vale for allowing me the opportunity to serve them.
“I will miss councillors and colleagues on Dudley Council on all sides of the political divide.”
He added he would continue to fulfil his role until the local elections in May 2015.
