A CREATIVE culinary genius at a Bromsgrove care home has taken third place in a festive Christmas cake bake.
Ange Hobbins, from Breme Residential Care Home in Providence Road, took around five hours to create a candle cake.
The talented chef's creation wowed judges at Sanctuary's Worcester offices and much to her surprise she managed to win third prize in the national competition, and £50 to spend.
She said: "I was so excited to have won a prize because I have never won anything before.
"I think I screamed when I found out. I was apprehensive about having a go but feel very proud and am very pleased with the result."
Ange also made individual cakes for the residents to enjoy.
Stephen Rees, director of care operations for Sanctuary Care, added: “This was my first year judging the competition and my first impressions are excellent.
"I was completely blown away by the diversity, creativity and attention to detail that went into making and decorating the cakes – Mary Berry, eat your heart out.”
