SUPERSTAR singer Olly Murs wowed thousands of fans during his sell-out gig in Worcester.

The former X-Factor runner-up performed an open air gig at New Road last night in front of a packed crowd as part of his summer tour.

He was joined by another former X Factor star, 2015 winner Louisa Johnson, who opened the show and then returned later to join Olly on stage.

The audience was packed out with children and their parents, some of whom had been queuing since 1.30pm to see their hero perform.

Passionate fans spoke of their delight at seeing the four-time number one album seller perform in the city.

Maggie Allard, who was there with her daughter Georgia, said: "It's the second time me and my daughter have seen Olly.

"It's great for Worcester to have not one but two amazing artists here, as Louisa Johnson is here as well and it's really convenient for us."

Debbie Cahill and her daughter, Bethany Cahill, have previously travelled to Sheffield to see Olly and were pleased to be able to see him in their home city.

Mrs Cahill said: "It's very good for my daughter to be able to see him in Worcester and it is great for the city."

Louisa Johnson burst onto the stage to perform one of her biggest hits 'So Good' before performing a mix of her own songs and covers of chart hits.

Then, a giant on-screen digital clock counted down from 24, which is the name of Olly's latest album, before the crowd erupted with noise as he rushed onto the stage and opened his set with a rendition of 'You Don't Know Love.'

The 33-year-old then performed his biggest hits for the adoring crowd, who were asked to join in during a number of tracks.

The Essex-born performer thanked crowds for taking the time to attend his concert and joked that he wanted fans to 'party so hard' that they would have to take a day off work or school.

Before the gig, queues stretched up to St John's roundabout in one direction and along Bridge Street in the other as fans waited patiently to see the singer.

A lane was closed along New Road to help walkers make their way to the concert, while nearby roads were closed afterwards to ease congestion.
