A GROUP of four friends will cycle 100-miles from Malvern to Aberystwyth to raise money for the fight against cystic fibrosis.

Kris Box, a 25-year-old from North End Lane, came up with the challenge in honour of his younger sister who suffers from the inherited condition.

He roped in the support of three Malvern mates, Jon Joyce, aged 25, Brinn Jardine (CORR), aged 24, and Tom Fulcher, aged 25, to join him on the two-day journey.

Kris, who works for Festival Housing’s property team, said: “My sister has the illness and quite regularly she’s ill. It’s not very nice and it affects everyday life. It’s tough-going having something like that from birth.”

The ride sets off on Friday, August 13, and he hopes the group can raise at least £1,000 for the charity.

On the evening of Thursday, July 22, Kris’ sister Kayleigh was admitted to Birmingham Heartlands Hospital after experiencing problems with her lung functions.

Kris added: “Her lung function dropped that low that doctors wanted her to go in.”

He added he hoped his sister would be discharged by the time they set off for the challenge.
