England have progressed to the final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup after winning 3-1 against Australia in the semi-final.

Ella Toone was among England’s goal scorers with a 36-minute strike into the top right corner of the net, giving Australia’s goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold no chance.

Australia equalised with a long-distance strike from Sam Kerr before Lauren Hemp scored for England.

Alessia Russo also joined the score sheet, scoring England's third of the match.

England's Lionesses will now play in the final of the FIFA Women's World Cup.

When is the final of the Women’s World Cup?

Spain have already secured their spot in the final after beating Sweden 2-1 on Tuesday (August 15).

There will be a match to decide which team finishes in third place – this will take place on Saturday, August 19 and following today’s result, Australia will face Sweden.

England will face Spain in the final of the competition on Sunday, August 20 at 11am.
