LEDBURY Town begin their quest to finally end their wait for promotion on Saturday when they host Clee Hill United at New Street (2.30PM KO).

Having come second in consecutive seasons in the Herefordshire Football League Premier Division and missing out on promotion in dramatic style last time around, Ledbury are once again favourites to win the title and gain promotion into Step 6.

Pre-season has seen Ledbury play some tough opposition but the real stuff arrives on Saturday when Clee Hill come to town.

Tickets are priced at just £3 and children who play for Ledbury Swifts come in for free.

There is live music before and after the match as part of the new season party, which will also include drinks offers at the bar when Ledbury score.

And all involved with the club will be hoping for plenty of goals this season but the aim is promotion and chairman Pete Boyle is hoping that the past two seasons will encourage more people to come and support the team.

"We are lucky to enjoy tremendous local support," he said. If you haven't visited us before or if you haven't been in a long time, I invite you to please come and join us at our ground at New Street.

"We play Clee Hill United on the opening day and we would love to see some new and old faces at the ground.

"You do not require a membership to watch, you just need to pay on the gate.

"We have an excellent team who are good to watch. We have finished second in the league two years running but the whole club is hoping to go one step further.

"We would love your support as we start the new season, all our welcome, please join us!"

There will be a couple of new faces on the touchline, but also in the first team as manager Ian Merrick revealed three new faces last week.

Craig Howell and Sam Webb have signed from Gala Winton, whilst George Jelley arrives from Worcester United,
