LEDBURY Swifts held their annual presentation evening to celebrate the success of the year for all 17 teams within the club.

The awards were presented by Swifts’ president Steve Onions for top scorer, most-improved player, parents’ player and players’ player among other achievements.

Each coach nominates a player of the season for every team, too, alongside accolades for those off the pitch.

The under 17s won the Herefordshire Junior League Stirling Division, while their Rovers team picked up the HGTA Cup in the same age group and finished runners-up in the Herefordshire FA Youth Cup.

A signed and framed football shirt from former Liverpool and England midfielder Steven Gerrard was raffled on the night and won by Justin Hill, whose son Brandon is a Liverpool fan.

The draw raised £1,400 for club funds thanks to hard work from fundraisers Rachel Potter and Jenny Welch.

Swifts hold their annual football tournament on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14, at Ross Road playing fields from 9.30am until 2.30pm and spectators are welcome.

The club are now signing on players for the forthcoming season and anyone interested can visit ledburyswiftsfc.org.uk or call membership secretary Melanie Fish on 01531-631675.

They need players for the boys’ under 12s and 15s and the girls’ under 10s, 12s and 14s.
