MALVERN Town ended a run of three games without a win in style by thrashing county rivals Bewdley Town 6-2.

The bumper away victory followed a 0-0 weekend draw at 10-man Smethwick in the West Midlands League Premier Division.

Malvern moved up to fifth in the table ahead of Saturday's third consecutive away game when they head to 14th-placed Shifnal Town (3pm).

After conceding a seventh-minute penalty at Bewdley, two goals by Matt Fusco and strikes from Shaun Smith, Kyonn Evans, Louis Loader and Matt Turner secured the win.

Bewdley started brightly and in the seventh minute Malvern keeper Charlie Weaver was ruled to have fouled a striker and Chris Seekings firmly put away the resulting penalty.

Two minutes later, Malvern's Evans played the ball across the goal and Turner just failed to get a touch on it.

Soon after, a Smith cross was grabbed by keeper Joe Sidaway just in front of Evans.

Turner turned and shot against the bar before Fusco weaved his way through and fired just wide.

But Malvern levelled on 28 minutes when Smith fired home. Five minutes later, the visitors went ahead for the first time when Evans pulled the ball back for Fusco to net.

Malvern nearly went into half-time with a 3-1 advantage but Sidaway held Fusco's effort.

Weaver kept the lead intact after the break with a fine save when Luke Morris connected with a low volley after Malvern could not clear a free-kick.

The resulting corner was pulled back to Jason Wellings whose 35-yard shot hit the post.

But Malvern increased their lead in the 55th minute when Leader headed for Evans to volley home after Sidaway missed a cross.

Les Jones' side made it 4-1 on 73 minutes when Loader scored after Turner laid off Evans' centre.

Two minutes later, Malvern completed their nap hand when Evans passed for Turner to score from 15 yards.

Fusco completed the tally with a fine strike from Luke Molloy's pass eight minutes from time.

Bewdley bagged a late consolation through Callum Martin and forced Weaver into an eye-catching save.

Malvern host Wednesfield next Wednesday in the Smedley Crooke Cup (7.45pm).
