MALVERN Town hope to finally get back on the pitch after being knocked off the top of the West Midlands Football League Premier Division.
Wolverhampton Sporting Community’s 4-1 home win over Bilston Town Community on Tuesday night pushed them three points ahead of Malvern with three games still in hand.
Second-placed Malvern, whose last league fixture was a 7-0 thrashing of Smethwick on February 24, are due to host Shifnal Town at the HDanywhere Community Stadium on Saturday (3pm).
Les Jones’ side will aim to pick up where they left off against the 13th-placed Shropshire side to hold off the challenge of Black Country Rangers and Tividale below them.
Town won 1-0 at Shifnal last October thanks to a fourth-minute goal from Matt Turner.
Malvern's short league trip to Hereford's Pegasus Juniors was postponed last weekend due to a waterlogged pitch.
The under 21s have also been frustrated by the weather.
They are due to host Ledbury Town in the Herefordshire FA County League Premier Division next Wednesday.
